In a 90-day timeframe, 'Summertime Gold,' a rugose, potato leaf dwarf, showcases robust yields of smooth, oblate-shaped fruit ranging from four to fourteen ounces. These fruits have a pale, nearly waxy, yellow hue with a subtle pink blush on the blossom end, which deepens post-harvest. The flavor is exceptional and well-balanced, with a predominant sweetness that is intense rather than mild. The seed cavities are small and distributed throughout the flesh, containing small seeds.
Originating from the "Sneezy family" within the "Dwarf Tomato Project," which involves a cross made by Patrina Nuske Small in 2005 between 'Golden Dwarf Champion' and 'Green Giant,' 'Summertime Gold' was selected by David Lockwood in 2007 and named after his daughter, Summer. Released to the public in 2011 in the Northern Hemisphere and in 2014 in the Southern Hemisphere, each seed packet comprises approximately 20 seeds.
In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.Â
