In a duration of 85 days, 'Dwarf Tanager' displays rugose, potato leaf plants that attain a height of four to five feet, exhibiting remarkable productivity. The fruit, ranging from four to twenty ounces each, is smooth-skinned, oblate-shaped, and characterized by a bright pale orange color. These tomatoes boast an intense flavor that tends toward the tart end of the taste spectrum.
Derived from the Dwarf Tomato Project's "Fancy" family, 'Dwarf Tanager' was singled out and named by Susan Oliverson, stemming from the exploration of 'Dwarf Goldfinch' for distinct color variations. Additional contributors to the development of this release include Dee Sackett, Craig LeHoullier, and Bill Minkey. The Victory Seed Company introduced 'Dwarf Tanager' for the 2021 gardening season, and each seed packet contains a minimum of 20 seeds.
In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.Â
