Victory SeedsIn just 75 days, 'Tanunda Red' presents as a robust, dwarf tomato with distinctive wrinkled leaves. This variety bears plentiful fruit, strikingly red and sized between four to ten ounces, with a smooth, flattened shape. The tomatoes offer a juicy, well-balanced flavor, neither too sour nor too sweet, making them perfect for slicing.
The creation of 'Tanunda Red' stems from the collaborative efforts of the "Dwarf Tomato Project." It emerged from a crossbreeding experiment in 2008, where 'Wilpena' from the early "Sleepy Family" line and 'Cherokee Purple' were combined by Patrina Nuske Small. Originally named 'Plentiful,' this variety was later refined and christened 'Tanunda Red' by Patrina. Notable contributors to its development include Craig LeHoullier, Carol Knapp, Sandra Tipton, Marsha Eisenberg, and Bill Minkey. 'Tanunda Red' was introduced in 2016, with each seed packet containing around 20 seeds.
