In an 85-day growth cycle, the 'Summertime Green' dwarf tomato plant exhibits rugose, regular leaf foliage. Its fruit, characterized by an oblate shape and weighing up to roughly ten ounces, attain a green hue upon ripening. These fruits offer a succulent, sweet, and fruity taste profile, accompanied by a tender, fleshy interior that may occasionally present a pinkish or amber blush when fully ripe. Assessing ripeness can prove challenging, particularly in regions where the blush may not manifest. Therefore, it is advisable to tactfully gauge fruit firmness to ascertain optimal ripeness.
'Summertime Green' originated from a breeding project initiated by Patrina Nuske Small in Australia in 2007. The variety resulted from a cross between 'Golden Dwarf Champion,' known for its medium-sized, yellow dwarf tomatoes, and 'Green Giant.' David Lockwood, a member of the Dwarf Tomato Project, played a pivotal role in selecting and naming the variety after his daughter, Summer. 'Summertime Green' was officially introduced to the market in 2011, and each seed packet generally contains approximately 20 seeds.
