In the middle of the growing season, 'Dwarf Numbat,' a dwarf tomato variety, yields medium-small tomatoes weighing about three ounces each. These tomatoes are round in shape and bear resemblance to their parent, 'Green Zebra,' featuring green and gold stripes on the outside and offering tart, flavorful green flesh. The plants of 'Dwarf Numbat' are characterized by their wrinkled, regular leaves and exceptional productivity.
The lineage of the "Quirky" family traces back to a crossbreeding effort led by Ray South, involving 'Green Zebra' and a red-fruited selection from the "Cheeky" family of the Dwarf Tomato Project. 'Dwarf Numbat' was carefully chosen and named by Ray South, with significant contributions to its development from Craig LeHoullier, Patrina Nuske Small, Lisa Moore, Susan Oliverson, Shawn Conant, and Bill Minkey, who played a crucial role in producing the final selection's seeds.
