In a span of 80 days, the 'Dwarf Kodiak King' plants, featuring rugose regular leaves, exhibit high productivity, dense foliage, and an average height of thirty-six inches. The tomatoes, ranging from blunt heart to round to oblate and weighing six to twenty ounces, are scarlet red, meaty, and offer a classic "red heirloom" flavor with a refreshing touch of tartness.

The "Grizzly" family of the Dwarf Tomato Project has its roots in a cross made by Patrina Nuske Small, combining the old dwarf variety 'New Big Dwarf' with the indeterminate tomato 'Grozny '91'. From this lineage, 'Dwarf Kodiak King' was carefully chosen and named by Amanda Fischer. The collaborative effort involved Patrina, Amanda, Craig LeHoullier, Michael Volk, Sherry Long, Damon Huck, Bill Minkey, Mike Dunton, and John Dunton. Introduced by the Victory Seed Company in 2022, each seed packet contains a minimum of 20 seeds.

In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.
