In the early season, 'Dwarf Galen's Yellow' exhibits vigorous and productive characteristics with rugose, potato leaves, growing to a height of approximately four feet. These bushy plants, spanning nearly three feet in width, lack a distinct central stem. Instead, they feature multiple stems, each hosting a cluster of fruit spaced about three to four inches apart. The fruit, slightly oblate in shape and averaging one ounce each, possess a golden-yellow hue and deliver a well-balanced, sweet flavor. The potential for hundreds of fruit per plant adds to its prolific nature.

The "Plucky" family stems from a cross by Ray South between 'Galina' and 'Golden Dwarf Champion'. 'Dwarf Galen's Yellow' was meticulously selected by Robin Bort, who collaborated with her eight-year-old son at the time, and named it after him. A collaborative effort ensued among numerous members to refine the most promising offspring, including Craig LeHoullier, Patrina Nuske Small, Susan Oliverson, Melissa Fink, Rebecca Gustafson, Nicole Diana, Linda Pugh, Bill Burke, Justin Sieglaff, Georgie Montoni, Jackie Gadbois, Patricia Hippili, Suzanna Dzejachok, Steve Carey, Amber Schneck, and Nick Bolkowy. Bill Minkey played a pivotal role in growing the seed for the initial release. Each seed packet contains a minimum of 20 seeds.

In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.
