Ripening in just 75 days, 'Dwarf Andy's Forty' is a dwarf tomato variety with rugose, regular-leaf plants known for their high productivity. Its fruit, characterized by their oblate shape and brown color with vertical green stripes, typically weigh between four to eight ounces. They offer a mildly balanced, slightly sweet flavor.

In 2012, Sherry Long, a member of the "Dwarf Tomato Project," initiated a cross between 'German Red Strawberry' and Livingston's 'Dwarf Stone,' resulting in what the group refers to as the "Softy family." From this lineage, 'Dwarf Andy's Forty' was carefully selected and named by Susan Oliverson. Susan primarily led the stabilization efforts, with some assistance from Dee Sackett and Craig LeHoullier in the initial work on the Softy family.

The original batch of seeds was grown by Bill Minkey and was made available to the public in 2018. Each packet contains a minimum of 20 seeds.
